Gold Medalist, Robbie Haines, Will Talk With Hawaii's Youth Sailors, July 24, 2019

All youth sailors are invited to a talk by Olympic Gold medal sailor and all around good guy Robbie Haines on Wednesday, July 24, 4:00pm, at the Waikiki Yacht Club Youth Sailing Center. Robbie has won seven world championships in 4 different class of boats. He was the associate producer and sailing team manager for the Walt Disney film "Morning Light". He was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for being a member of the 1980 US Olympic Sailing Team, which did not compete in the Soviet Union (Estonia) due to the boycott of the Olympic Games that year by President Jimmy Carter.

Haines, skipper of the Haines-Trevelyan-Davis team, received a gold medal in the Soling class at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Haines was inducted into the San Diego Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.

Robbie will bring his gold medal with him and talk about his time as a youth sailor at the San Diego Yacht Club junior program and how he overcame his challenges to become such a great sailor. Robbie is a down to earth person who will answer any questions and has a true love of sailing and wants to help all of our youth sailors.
